Lisianthus have the elegant quality of rose like petals without the thorns yet also grow long strong stems making them excellent cut flowers.
They are difficult to grow from seed and can take 5-6 months from seed to bloom so it's best to purchase plugs or young plants.
Plant your transplants two to four weeks before last spring frost.
Spacing: To increase stem length, its recommended to plant them 4 inches apart. That will also give a fuller appearance in the garden.
Conditions: Plant in an area with full sun, well-draining soil with enriched organic matter like vermicompost.
Watering: Water plants consistently but let the soil dry slightly between waterings. Lisianthus are heat loving and drought-tolerant.
Pruning/ Pinching: When the plant is about 8-12inches tall and has 3-4 sets of leaves, trim the tip of the stem. This will create a sturdier, bushier plant and also encourage more blooms.
